Getting Acquainted With Shelter Friends, Inc.

B& W Person and Dog

Shelter Friends, Inc. exists to help animals.  Without a voice they need an organization that can speak up for them to ensure they live a life free of pain and suffering.  We witness too often the struggles homeless animals face to eat, heal from injuries, flee abuse, recover from illness, find clean drinking water and to locate a safe place to sleep.  Sadly, we understand it's not possible to save every animal, but for each one we do help, we are making a difference for them.

It Began with MommaKitty

Mama Kitty

If you have ever lost an animal, you know how terrifying it can be.  That is what happened to our Founder and Director, Dawn Dulle.  Her cat, MommaKitty escaped and in spite of her extensive efforts to find her, weeks passed with no news on MommaKitty.  Part of Dawn's efforts included making frequent trips to the animal shelters in her area.  As time passed, she came to realize she wanted to do more than just find her cat.  She wanted to help other animals too.  This desire led to Dawn eventually starting Shelter Friends, Inc.  Click on the link below to find out how the story ends.

We're All in This Together

"SNUGGLE Pet Rescue has worked with Shelter Friends, Inc. for years.  We're grateful to be able to help when they have orphaned, injured or sick kittens or puppies in need of some extra special help to survive.  It is so nice when organizations work together because it's the animals that benefit."

"Imagine being a cat laying in the pouring rain after being hit by a car resulting in barely being able to breath and suffering from multiple broken bones. Our rescue organization didn't have the resources to pay for such serious injuries. Shelter Friends, Inc. is the only local organization that pays major medical bills for strays. Because of them this cat got the help it needed to live."

"Sherman Roosevelt was discarded like trash.  After I found him, I reached out to multiple rescue groups for help funding this dog’s extensive medical bills.  Finally, I connected with Dawn Dulle at Shelter Friends, Inc.  She agreed to help Sherman, sight unseen.  Dawn is an angel and Shelter Friends, Inc. took care of the medical bills to get this grateful dog put back together."
