Meet Luna

Updated: Aug 16

She is healing well but still has a long road ahead of her! The tips of her ears have fallen off. As the burn wounds on her head have healed, it has pulled the skin up so much that it looks like she's had a bad eye job! She can now open and close her eyes, though.

She is "cortically" blind and deaf right now, meaning that her eyes and ears work, but the brain is not sending the signals to them. We are praying hard that this reverses itself, even to some small extent, but we do not know yet if that will happen. The neurologist said it will take 3 to 6 months to get her vision back, if it comes back at all. Luna still walks in circles going counterclockwise. Her foster mom reports that every once in a while, she takes a step forward or one to the right, but that is very infrequent.

Luna is now peeing on her own, but not in a litter box. Her bladder was being expressed until just recently. She is still being fed with a syringe. We tried to feed her off a spoon, but Luna just pushed the food off. She can eat a little bit out of a bowl, but not enough to sustain herself yet.

So, as you can see, Luna requires a lot of help. We are forever grateful to her foster mom and the entire family that is pitching in to help Luna get to the best place in life that she can get! She will be a special-needs baby, for sure.
