We were contacted by a young lady who helps care for an elderly lady in Malden, Missouri, who recently had taken in a young dog that she named Patches.
When the care giver got to the home, she was horrified to find that Patches had not eaten or drank anything in 2 days and was throwing up yellow bile. Concerned for the dog, she contacted Shelter Friends, Inc. and we arranged for him to go to Cape Small Animal Hospital in Cape Girardeau. The veterinarian confirmed what we had suspected. Patches had parvo.
Since Patches' owner cannot afford the treatment, Shelter Friends, Inc. agreed to pay the vet bill for Patches which is estimated to be between $600 to $675.
Updates on Patches can be found on the Shelter Friends, Inc. Facebook page.
