Meet Salem

Last week Shelter Friends, Inc. received a call from a young lady in Warren County who found a kitten she said was acting lethargic. We agreed to pay for a vet visit, suspecting he probably had an upper respiratory infection. We told the lady she would have to take the kitten home though after the vet visit as we had nowhere for him to go.

Turns out this little man had something much more serious going on. He had not one, but two, severely broken legs. Dr. Schwartz did an amazing job trying to piece his badly broken legs back together, although each leg will have one little floating piece of bone for the rest of his life. But he's alive and has two functioning back legs. He just walks a little goofy, which, turns out to be, is his new name.

The lady who found Goofy never returned to pick him up, so one of the amazing staff members at the veterinary hospital offered to step up and foster him and she has reported he's turned out to be one of the sweetest kittens ever.

Updates on Goofy can be found on the Shelter Friends, Inc. Facebook page.
